The crown above her head symbolises the crown of immortality. Symbolised by 8 stars, The Crown of Immortality is a literary and religious metaphor traditionally represented in art first as a laurel wreath and later as a symbolic circle of stars (often a crown, tiara, halo or aureola). The Crown appears in a number of Baroque iconographic and allegoric works of art to indicate the wearer's immortality. It predates Titian and Greek/Roman times, predating Jesus as well.

K9 Angel was 8 years when she passed so each star also represents each year of her life.

The background is ode to the title track Me And My Girlfriend off the Makaveli Album, the lyrics to which are etched on the urn holding K9 Angels ashes . She has a pure 24 karat gold halo around her head, symbolising her purity and Godliness. She was my entire world, and my lifesaver.

Her K9 patch represents her life as a working Service K9, a job she gave her all too, including her last breath. She was truly my Guardian Angel.

It is said that some lives are linked across time. Connected by an ancient calling that echoes through the ages. Destiny.

This piece is special and holds a significant meaning to our partnership.

The constellations: Above Angel’s head is the Corona Borealis, the Crown of Immortality.

Near the moon is the Sirius Dog Star constellation, Canis Major, the brightest star in the sky, an ode to her graduating class of 2017 on what is the 25th year anniversary of Assistance Dogs of the West.
On Angel’s side is the Lupus Wolf constellation, representing Lobo’s of the Southwest and New Mexico.
Canis Minor is also in there remotely for those that can find it; however easily lost in the stars.

The painting is set in the Valley of the Gods, Utah, out in the Wild West.

Navajo mythology holds that these grand spires contain the spirits of Navajo warriors. I’m painted on one knee here in the Valley of the Gods to pay respect to the dead in the afterlife; Angel’s Immortal crown represents her eternal, Immortal Soul.

The West is where we belong, the Wolves and I, And my old friends now dead. May we meet again on the other side.
